Make Music by Dancing in the PACER Suitby: Taly Weiss September 9, 2008
Every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take…Those aren’t just the lyrics of an awesome song, but the concept behind the PACER suit created by Nikola Knezevic and Danilo Zizic. The suit produces music based on the dancer’s movements by using a simple sensor system. When muscles are activated by the dancer’s movements, they send electronic pulses to the sensors attached to them. The pulses are then amplified and translated into sound. “Each impulse is goes through the sensors via amplifiers (boxes on the back) to control panel where we can control volume, type of sound, select rhythm to follow…These sounds can be heard through headphones connected to the control panel (box on the front) or through the speakers connected to the control panel by infrared rays.” You can create an array of melodies, harmonies and sounds and truly be your own Mozart. This type of musical creativity is not only for fun. It has therapeutic benefits and is an excellent workout. Everybody dance now!
