Social Fashion: Clothes-Swap Events
by: trendlover May 29, 2008![]()
This next trend I spotted, the Clothing Swap, is more than brilliant. It stops us from being wasteful, helps you empty out your closet, meet new people, get amazing designer and funky items for free, and is charitable. It works on all elements that matter: Socially, morally, monetarily and of course, fashionably.

The new scene goes like this: Stylists, fashionistas, jewelers, artists, professionals and many others get together and bring in clothing/accessories that they no longer wear or use (clean and in good condition of course). Then, they swap their stuff with other peoples’ goodies and go home with fabulous fashions without spending a penny. The leftovers are donated to non-profit shelters and charities.
Initiated by the exquisite Suzanne Agasi, she describes the clothing swaps as: “good, glam, eco-friendly and philanthropic events”. I am positive Suzanne’s noble innovation will keep on spreading. There’s really no reason it shouldn’t…if the above incentives aren’t enough, according to the site, women wear 20% of their clothing 80% of the time. And, there are now also events for men. So….Swap ‘till you drop, anyone?
